Quick answer: compare the outing you actually need: travel time, setting, course length, current schedule, access needs and total cost. A rating or long feature list cannot answer all of those questions.

Start with non-negotiables

Remove options that cannot work before comparing softer preferences. A course may be attractive but unusable if it is closed on the planned day, entirely outdoors during poor weather, too far from the group, or unable to support a mobility or sensory need. Check those constraints on current venue-controlled pages or by phone.

Use ratings as context, not a verdict

Aggregate ratings combine visits made under different conditions and may reflect food, staff, an arcade or a campground as much as the mini golf course. Look at the review count and date, then return to observable facts. A modest dedicated course may fit a quiet family round better than a highly rated entertainment centre.

Compare like with like

A one-round ticket is not directly comparable with an attraction bundle. An 18-hole outdoor course is not the same outing as a compact black-light course inside an arcade. Write one sentence describing what the group wants, then score each candidate against that sentence. Give non-negotiables a pass or fail and preferences a simple zero-to-two score.

Make the final same-day check

Confirm hours, weather closures, booking and admission after choosing a venue. The directory profile should show where its facts came from and when they were checked; the operator remains the final source for today's visit. Use the course comparison tool to keep two to four options visible without opening a row of browser tabs.
