What would the same family pay at twenty Canadian mini-golf operators? We calculated admission for two adults aged 40 and children aged 8 and 12, then separated tax treatment, ticket formats and package alternatives. The result shows why a headline family price can conceal a different outing cost.
Source check: September 7, 2026. Sample: 20 venues across 9 provinces. All amounts are CAD. This is a purposive sample of readable operator tariffs with enough age information for this party, not a random survey, a national average, a cheapest-course ranking or a booking quote. We did not visit the venues or complete purchases.
One party, twenty published-rate calculations
Every row uses ages 40, 40, 8 and 12. We calculate individual tickets, except Goodwood's explicit four-person rate. Known family-package alternatives appear in the notes, not silently substituted. Four putter rentals are included at Tap-Ins; optional food, travel, lockers, arcades and replays are excluded. Equipment inclusion is otherwise asserted only where the source says so.
Tax included means the operator states that its displayed amount includes tax. Tax extra is a subtotal, not a final total. Tax unspecified means we cannot establish either treatment. No tax percentages are guessed. Different course formats remain labelled, so matching ages alone does not make the products identical.
Download the calculations and source URLs (CSV). Each row includes the source-check date, not a claim that the operator updated its tariff that day. Undated tariffs and seasonal courses still need visit-date confirmation.

What changes when the twelve-year-old turns thirteen?
Holding the other three ages fixed, Wizards' Golf rises from $35.96 to $39.96 before HST, Within Range Burlington from $46.02 to $46.90 before HST, and Fluo S'amuse from $44 to $48 with tax treatment unspecified. Coast to Coast stays at $52 before HST because its youth band runs through fourteen. These are calculations from the linked rate bands, not predictions of next year's prices.
When the family pass loses
At Riverside Ridge, two adults and two children aged 12 or under cost $44 before tax on individual golf tickets. The family ticket is $45 for up to five. For that four-person party, individual tickets save $1; with a fifth paying player, the family option can become the better buy. The word family does not itself mean a discount for every family size.
At Tap-Ins, two regular tickets plus two junior tickets total $64 before tax, against $58 for the matching family package. That saves $6. But putters are a separate rental: four add $8 before tax. A $58 headline therefore becomes $66 before tax for that family when everyone rents. Bringing suitable equipment, where permitted, changes the comparison.
Hornbrook's individual total for this exact age mix is $53.50 before GST: three players pay the nine-plus rate and one pays the eight-and-under rate. Its qualifying $47.75 family ticket saves $5.75 before GST. Tour-du-Nordet's two-adult/two-minor package saves $4 against $72 in individual tickets for our younger party; its larger potential saving with teenagers does not apply to ages eight and twelve.
Do not turn an unclear package into a promise
Centennial advertises a $25 family price, but the rate text we retrieved does not define the exact party composition. We calculate $32 in individual admission instead of assuming that any four people qualify. Ask the operator whether the package covers your player ages and number of adults. The answer can matter more than a small difference in individual rates.
Choose the round before choosing add-ons
Golf Fanatics sells unlimited use of a nine-hole course; Tap-Ins is natural-grass putting. Neither should be presented as an interchangeable single eighteen-hole obstacle course just because the family total is similar. Sandspit's row is its advertised standalone golf ticket, not a ride pass. Exclude an activity your group cannot or will not use before judging a bundle's value.
Age bands are not standardized
Within Range begins its senior band at 55, Tap-Ins at 60 and Hornbrook at 65. None of those concessions applies to our two forty-year-olds. Height-priced venues were excluded because the children's ages do not establish their heights. Products with unresolved age eligibility, contradictory rates or guest-only access were also unsuitable for this matched-party table. When a source does not explain infants, non-players or support people, leave the charge unresolved rather than assigning zero.
Keep the final comparison honest
For each venue, add only the tickets your party needs, necessary equipment, disclosed taxes and required fees. Keep food, travel and optional activities separate. Then check the outing's constraints: a lower price is not helpful if the last mini-golf admission is earlier than your arrival, a seasonal course has closed, or the route does not meet your group's access needs.
The party budget calculator can total a quote for a larger event. For a regular outing, use the individual rate table on the linked course page and confirm the final amount with the operator. We update a rate only when a source supports that particular ticket, not by applying another venue's price.
